A vanished cultural tradition expressed through architecture, water, fire and community spaces.

Testimony

A vanished cultural tradition documented through architectures and rituals

The serial site is an exceptional testimony to the cult and ritual system of protohistoric Sardinia. Through an articulated set of monuments devoted to the sacred, it documents the evolution of religious practices that developed autonomously over more than a millennium.

The components illustrate the transition from the collective cult of ancestors to the more complex ritual forms of the final phase, centred on multifunctional sanctuaries, water and fire cults, votive offerings, community banquets and public celebrations.

Cyclopean technique

Monumental solutions based on powerful masonry masses and a strong landscape impact.

Isodomic technique

Refined and regular stonework, particularly significant in water temples.

Water cult

Systems for capturing, channeling and conserving water that structure ritual space.
